WAKO DANZA, directed by Eduardo Zúñiga, is a creative platform dedicated to the development and dissemination of original artistic work. It fosters collaboration and dialogue between artists as a means of enriching the creative process, while also serving as a space for documentation, exchange and engagement with the contemporary performing arts scene.
A dancer and choreographer trained in classical and contemporary dance, Eduardo Zúñiga studied at the Escuela de Ballet de Santiago and the Houston Ballet Academy, where he was awarded the prestigious Peter Schaer Award. His performing career has taken him across the United States, Chile and Europe, dancing with companies including State Street Ballet, Texas Ballet Theater, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Luna Negra Dance Theater, Ballet Nacional Chileno, Luzerner Tanztheater (Switzerland), Titoyaya Dansa (Spain), as well as in two productions for the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC). In recognition of his artistic excellence, he received the 2022 Performing Arts Award for Best Male Dancer.
As a choreographer, Eduardo has created works for companies and institutions around the world, including the Bolshoi Ballet, Ballet Nacional Chileno, LaMov, Titoyaya Dansa (in co-production with the IVC), Teatro del Lago, Luna Negra Dance Theater, and Save the Children Foundation.
His choreographic work has received international recognition, including the Gold Medal at the 13th International Ballet Competition and Contest of Choreographers in Moscow, the Silver Medal at the 4th Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition (2017), First Prize at Dance Chance Redux (Chicago), and the prestigious Joyce Award in 2013.
