JULIA ZAC

@juliazac_

Argentinian artist, choreographer and performer based in Valencia. I am interested in researching through the practice of dance and movement, inhabiting a space of constant exploration. My work focuses on the hybridisation of languages on stage, exploring how the body engages in dialogue with its surroundings.

In recent years, I have been immersed in the creation and direction of my own works, with collaboration as a central axis. These include *El gesto roto*, developed with a team of collaborators including Norberto Llopis Segarra, Lucía Jaén Serrano, Paul Loubet and Mónika Vázquez, and my current project, *Hard to Explain*, created together with Tomàs Aragay. I have recently developed my creative processes and residencies at Espai La Granja, Espai Inestable, Teatre Francesc Tàrrega in Benicàssim (as part of the Impuls a la Dansa programme), Dansa València, Carme Teatre, Teatro DT Espacio Escénico (Madrid), Centro Botín (Santander), IVAM (Institut Valencià d’Art Modern), CCCC (Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània), La Poderosa and El Consulado.

I have had the opportunity to work with leading professionals from the performing and visual arts, including Tino Sehgal, Cooking Sections and Claudia Pagès Rabal. These experiences have deeply influenced my understanding of dance and the stage as a device for artistic research. Academically, I studied Choreographic Composition at UNA (Universidad Nacional de las Artes) in Buenos Aires, where I also completed a Master's Degree in New Contemporary Trends. In 2025, my work expanded internationally through a residency at KVS Royal Flemish Theatre in Brussels. I am currently part of El Consulado, an artistic space in Valencia shared with other local artists, and a member of the board of APDCV (Association of Dance Professionals of the Valencian Community).
