Paula Serrano is a Valencian artist from Alcoy whose practice is rooted in movement. Her current research embraces discomfort as a central creative tool, using it to question perception and expand the possibilities of the body in performance.
As a freelance dancer, she has worked with internationally acclaimed choreographers including Asun Noales, Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, Olatz de Andrés and Maura Morales, among others.
She made her choreographic debut in 2016 with La hermosura prefiere ser secreto. In 2021, she premiered her first full-length work, Antes de que todos lo sepan, followed by Sexy Suggestion and Todos saben lo que está pasando in 2022.
Her work has been presented at venues and festivals including Quinzena Metropolitana de Dansa (Barcelona), Dansa València, The Pink House Festival (France) and Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria (Santander), among others.
Paula Serrano's artistic practice explores ocularcentrism from multiple perspectives, approaching it through poetic fiction and interdisciplinary experimentation to question the ways in which we perceive, construct and experience reality.
